Dutch Horn Society
The Dutch Horn Society ("Nederlands Hoornisten Genootschap", NHG) is the Dutch association of french horn
players. The NHG already exists for more than 25 years, and has approximately 750 members, professional as well
as amateur players, ranging from very young starters on the horn to retired top musicians. Regularly the NHG
organizes activities for horn players, like masterclasses, horn days, audition trainings and contests. In each
province of The Netherlands the NHG is represented by a contact person, who often co-ordinates activities in his/her
region. I am the contact for the province of Limburg, so if you have a good idea for a french horn event, or you
want to organize something and you need help, send me an
email.
Four times per year the NHG magazine "Uijlenspieghel" is published, containing many articles (in Dutch!)
about horn playing, horn players and horn music. The Uijlenspieghel also contains an agenda of musical events,
which may be interesting for horn players. More information about the "Nederlands Hoornisten Genootschap"
is available on the NHG web site:
www.hoornistengenootschap.nl. There you can also
find an online registration form and the online version of the
NHG event calendar.
